BPUMC Article for 02/12/14 by Joyce L. Wiedrich

Our February 2nd service led us into a study of The Beatitudes.  Matthew 5:1-12 writes of Jesus's
teachings from a hillside, to a gathered crowd.

The Beatitudes has always been one of my favorite gospel passages.  When we feel down or
weary, or feel lost, Jesus's words are there to comfort.  Reciting and reflecting on the passages
helps me to get my world straight- to see God in my world and to prepare for the Kingdom of
heaven.  There is truly inner joy and peace when one feels right with God.  This is the inner joy
that transcends deep to the bone and to the soul.  These passages are Jesus's take of the spirit
and attitude of the people that are right with The Lord.  Pastor Judy showed us how Jesus
showed "God's Requirements" in a positive vein, with the love and blessedness of Jesus Christ,
promising the rewards of heaven and salvation for those who trust God and live accordingly.
esus also provides us peace as we go about our daily struggles.

What an opportunity these passages give us for prayer, comforting those who are hurting or
troubled, for forgiveness, and teaching Jesus's word.

We want to welcome you to worship with us on Sunday, or join us in many projects and missions.
Bible study is at the church at 10:00 am Wednesdays, weather permitting.

Come join us this Saturday, February 15, for Valentine's Lasagna Dinner- everyone invited.
