One of our most loved passages from the Bible is from the gospel of John 3, 16-17: "For God so loved the world,  he gave his one and only Son that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him".

We continue our Lenten journey towards Christ's death on the cross and resurrection in studying in the passages from John 3.  The passage begins with a conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus, where Nicodemus came to Jesus, reflecting that he knew that Jesus was a teacher coming from God, desiring his input. Jesus then shared with Nicodemus the aspects of the new birth.  This birth is not just of our birth from the womb, but that one must be born from above, of the water and the spirit to see the Kingdom of God.

We see the Kingdom of God every day as we open our senses to The Lord, the beautiful sunsets over the lake, the birds chirping, the first signs of spring, the love that touches us from family and friends, the birth and cry of a baby, the rainbows in the sky.  Every day we know Jesus's love is there to guide and strengthen us along our way.  We see those signs of it all around us.  We only have to accept him as our savior and live by his teachings, as then we will someday be recognized as worthy to go to heaven.

Thanks again to Ron Sayler for his recent message.  He gave us a story taken from an unknown author, of a little girl repeatedly going to a shelter to look for a puppy.  Her mother was frustrated by not finding a puppy the right puppy size, after repeated trips to the shelter. The story ended as the little girl finally found the right puppy with puppy sighs, sighs of God when the little girl picked up the puppy; sighs that took her breath away, and showed her God's spirit.  These are the same sighs we experience with wonderment in our lives.

Come share with us at Bluff Point UMC as we experience the wonderment of Jesus in our lives!  Come join us in our special Lenten Journey!
