BPUMC Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich

We celebrated Pentecost Sunday on June 8th; Pastor Judy shared the meaning of Pentecost with the children, the birth of the church.  She shared that the church needs us to survive.  We need to share joy and love, and regenerate generosity and kindness.  She shared how we all need Christ in our lives and the church needs our presence, as well as our spirit in reaching out to others.  This certainly has recently been demonstrated by the help Yates County received from those near and far with recent devastating floods.

We recently said our goodbyes to our friend and long-term member of BPUMC, Jean Bascom.  Jean has been one of our long time organists.  Her musicality and smiles have filled our church for years.  She and her devoted husband Gordon  have wintered in North Carolina and summered at their home on the lake for years.  We will miss her dearly, but hold in our hearts memories of her kindnesses and friendship, knowing she now is in her heavenly home.  Our condolences to the Bascom family in their great loss.

Summer is in full swing!  Graduation Sunday is June 22.  We are proud of our high school and college students, and rejoice in their graduation and launch into successful careers.

We are welcoming of lakers and campers, and all other visitors in joining us at Sunday worship.  We also welcome folks to join us at weekly Bible study on Wednesdays at 10am at our church.
