Stacy and Chris Wyant dressed in period costumes for our recent Williamsburg Dinner
BPUMC Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich

On the last evening of January, our church dining area was transformed into a colonial Williamsburg Tavern, where we enjoyed a scrumptious dinner of beaf tips and noodles, thanks to chef John Prinzivalli.  Thanks also to Barb Bailey and crew for decorations and a warm festive punch drink, and Ann Shepardson for providing costumes and dresses of the day.  We all enjoyed a great evening of fellowship!

On this recent Sunday service, Pastor Judy passed out small green pieces of paper for each of us to write down demons in our individual life, and think about them.  She then asked the children, in her children's sermon, what demons they had.  Some responded that fear and anger were their demons.  She compared the demons as unpopped kernels of popcorn, which could easily be separated from the good popped kernels.  Judy's adult sermon was titled "Those Despicable Demons".  It was based on Jesus' visit to a synagogue in Capernaum, where Jesus taught with authority and cast out the unclean spirit of a man possessed by demons.  Pastor Judy told us that she believes that God, manifested in Jesus, has the power to drive out the demons in our lives.  While
we had communion we were invited to ask God to rid us of our demons, and to later destroy the paper that we had written them on.

The  church calendar will soon begin our preparations for Easter.  Our Ash Wednesday service at 12:00 noon at church.  "Fat Tuesday" Mardi Gras pancake supper with a free will offering is at 5:30 pm on February 17th also at church.

Stay warm and drive safely on these cold winter days!  Visitors always are welcome to join us Sundays at 9:00 am!
