08-12-15 Article

This past Sunday was friendship and communion Sunday.  Pat and Don McQuay have moved from the area, but we are glad they recently came to church and to visit us at BPUMC!

BPUMC Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich
Pastor Judy's theme on this communion Sunday was for us to share the bread of Christ with others.  We need to share our joys and sorrows with eachother.  The bread of Christ is what fills our souls.

She told the story of a hiker on Mt. Everest that was at the peak, and badly needing oxygen.  He didn't recognize that oxygen tanks left nearby by other hikers would have helped him, and argued with those who were trying to help him, and succumbed from lack of oxygen.  Oxygen is as important to our body as the Holy Spirit is to our souls.

Don't forget that our BPUMC pulled pork barbeque is Saturday August 15th- beginning at 4p until sold out.  Price:  Adults- $9.00; Children ages 11 and under- $5.00.  Menu:  pulled pork, salt potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, roll, and apple crisp.  Take outs only.  Come early!  Hope to see you there!

The following day, Sunday August 16 is the community church service at Red Jacket Park at 11:00am, followed by a pass dish lunch.  We will not have our regular 9a service at church that day.  This will be a wonderful time of sharing!  All are welcome at this community event.  Offering to benefit Yates County Habitat for Humanity.
