Twenty one members from BPUMC attended the Finger Lakes district laity banquet on 10/16/16.  District Superintendent Jeff McDowell presided over the group, sharing with the crowd the various missions each church chose to highlight.  Our church chose our prayer shawl ministry, spearheaded by Nancy Wilmott several years ago.  We have given over 365 prayer shawls, knit or crochet by women from our church to people for comfort, who were suffering from various health and other issues, from Penn Yan to as far away as Japan.

Babs Steinert preached the church sermon this day, as Pastor Sandi ended her vacation. She gave a heartfelt message based on bowing to the Lord in prayer.  She spoke to the children on communication- smart phones, flip phones and dial phones have all been used, but we don't need a phone to communicate with God.  She explained to the adults the difference between worship- concentrating on honoring God for who he is, and praise- commending and thanking God for what he does for us. Thanks Babs for your wonderful message!

We soon will be assembling shoe boxes for the "shoe box ministry" to provide 15 items for each child at Christmas, in the US and abroad.  Our little church is involved in over twenty missions! This important one provides gifts at Christmas to children who might not receive any other package to unwrap.

Turkey Walk is coming up soon!  Sign up to walk, or support a walker.  All money stays in Yates County to buy a turkey or ham for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
