Sarah Stackhouse bakes great cakes, and often participates in helping in our weekly coffee hour after church.  Yummy!

Pastor Sandi gave us some direction this past Sunday in how United Methodists face lent.  This is a time where we can focus on forgiveness and repentance, and be more than the world expects us to be.  We have the power of doing some good for others.  She added that for example, the choice of fasting should not be done with the purpose of loosing weight, but to remind us to be in prayer and be a disciple of Jesus.  We should concentrate on what we give to others, and not in what we give up.

Pastor Sandi handed out a calendar for "Coins for Lent" to the children and adults who want to participate.  People who wish to join in will save coins for each of the forty days in Lent for various things in their home, such as one coin for each lamp in the house, for every television, hat, doll, light bulb, etc. These coins will be collected and donated to buy items such as a swarm of bees, or chickens for Heffer International, providing animals for those in need to help them sustain themselves by providing means of livelihood.  Let's see what we all can do in support of this wonderful project!

Thanks to Curt Covert.  He recently heard of our need for a lending library bookshelf, and built a large beautiful piece of furniture for our gathering area where people can take books home to read.  Also thanks to Phil Pearce and Chris Wyant for the great paint job.

Fat Tuesday is February 28th.  We will be having our pancake supper 4:30-5:30 on that evening. Wednesday is March 1st.  First, we will have a prayer service at church from 6:00-6:45 pm followed by a light soup and bread supper from 7-8pm.  So begins the season of Lent as we prepare for Easter.

Geese are flying back north, and robins have been spotted.  This must mean the return of our snowbirds soon.  Safe travels to all!
