Meredith Nielsen, Deb Smith and Christine Wyant show off some of the dresses we made this past Saturday at church to send to little girls in Haiti.

Our guest speaker this past Sunday was Beckie Laumeier. She provided us some real food for thought by investigating the Book of Numbers, 6:24-26, containing the famous passage beginning with "The Lord bless you and keep you....". Beckie explained that blessings are gifts with a purpose- opportunities, challenges, growth in faith and love for God and one another.  God blesses us with a purpose.  God keeps us safe, protected.  We offer gifts to God's service, not only money, but gifts of life and hope, such as the little dresses and shorts 13 of our church ladies worked on to send to those girls and boys in Haiti that have so little.  Beckie left us with two thoughts:  "I will know God's will when I am willing to give up my own.", and "God loves us just the way you are, but too much to leave you this way."  Thank you Beckie for a very meaningful sermon based on a familiar scripture reading.

We are collecting soup to be donated to the Living Well through February 4th.  Bring in cans of soup to put in our huge soup collection container to help others!

Mark your calendars for Ash Wednesday service at 6:00 pm 2/14, with a soup dinner to follow.

Bible study continues on Wednesday, the book of John.  All welcome.

Dick Smith reminds us that Habitat for Humanity has been looking for a local family for their next home project.  He is very active working with this organization which helps rehabilitate and build homes with others to help families who otherwise might not be able to attain their own home.
