Pastor Sandi’s message this past week centered on the book of Numbers.  The beginning of the story was centered on counting and regulating people, and protecting the tabernacle, which often needed to be moved.

We celebrated Veterans Day, noting many church members who have served in the military, and also those who have had family members serving their country. In the afternoon, 18 of us met and sang patriotic songs at Clinton Crest Manor, the Penn Yan Manor and the Homestead, as we have for the past several years.  Many residents joined in singing the familiar service and patriotic songs, including a woman who had worked at the Pentagon, and another who had served with the Sea-bees.  It brought us all such joy to brighten this day for our elders.

Just a reminder that we are collecting food for Thanksgiving Baskets for the community.  We also have a laundry basket in the sanctuary for people to place donated hats, mittens and scarves for Penn Yan Christmas.  A sign is in the churchyard reminding folks that we are a drop off site for Operation Christmas Child.  Babs is recruiting volunteers to help during future collection dates.

Sarah Stackhouse reported on our very successful Harvest Dinner.  Thanks to all who cooked, baked, served, or attended!
