We all had a fun end-of-summer picnic at Pastor Sandi’s, including Phil, frequently seen watching out for the little children!

Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich

Many of us went to the Perl home this past Saturday for a pass-dish supper.  After dinner there was a bonfire and marshmallow, apple and even banana roasting to enjoy.  A great time of fellowship was had.

We have begun to study the Book of Gideon.  Pastor Sandi’s sermon explained how, like Moses, Gideon considered himself to be weak.  God chose both he and Moses at separate times to do great things.  Gideon often wondered why he was chosen, as this was not his wish.  Neither he or Moses wanted to do anything exciting in their lives.  Pastor Sandi reflected that Gideon was a lot like us, living in a time of turmoil and an uncertain world.  Pastor Sandi asked us how we stand up to be God’s people.  Some of us help at The Living Well, some build houses with Habitat for Humanity.  others make quilts and prayer shawls to help others.

We have many opportunities coming up.  We will join with Branchport UMC at Branchport for a dinner and movie with discussion following “Hidden Figures” at 6:00pm on 9/20.

Our bi-annual Adopt-a-Highway road cleanup will be at 9am on Wednesday 9/25 for our 2-mile section of Route 54A.  We will finish in time for people who wish to return to Bible Study at church.

We have started the 5-7-9 small group dining at parishioners homes.  This is a great way to get to know people from church better!

Bible study starts this week at church on Wednesdays at 10:00 am.  We will be studying Moses.  All are welcome!
