Today we began the study of Advent, looking at Mary, the mother of Jesus.  Mary had faith when she was told as a virgin that she would bear a child.  She said yes.  We need to consider saying yes when we are asked, to give the words of hope, Joy, peace and love.  Mary was in a dilemma.  She was scared and wondered what was going to happen, but Pastor Sandi explained that she took a leap of faith and said yes.  Saying yes may bring us work, but also gives us opportunity.

This week we ended being a collection point for Christmas boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Our nursery room is filled with boxes ready to be set forward for this global mission.

We also began the season of ringing the bells for Yates County Christmas.  This program gives many local children gift cards, toys, books, and clothing as well as other items during two days in December when parents choose needed items at the Penn Yan Armory.  It was set up many years ago by Floyd Tillman, recognizing that many families need some help especially at this time of year.

We wish more of our snowbirds safe travel as they leave for warmer climates.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!
