Pastor Sandi gives a children’s sermon to our kiddos, big and small!

Article by Joyce L. Wiedrich

This past Sunday we finished our lesson of James.  James is a small book in the Bible, but a treasure of knowledge and reflection.  Pastor Sandi questioned whether or not we are patient when we have to stop at a stoplight or an accident. We are often impatient.  We also need to show patience with farming and the weather.  We need to not grumble and swear with daily tribulations.  Patience is a deliberate behavior which was also used to build a kingdom.  He was reflects that the coming of the Lord is near and that we need to be patient.

The children passed out reverse advent calendars to the congregation.   Instead of giving things up for Lent, we are challenged to collect calendar items such as laundry soap, dish detergent, toothpaste, garbage bags, baby wipes, body wash, combs, dish soap and deodorant for clients at The Living Well during the days leading to Easter.

Our church celebrated Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras with a pancake dinner, and a Lenten service on Ash Wednesday.  There will be many other church community events during the Lenten season.
