05-05-21 Article

Look at this lovely mural!  Chris Wyant painted this in our downstairs kitchen/eating area.  We all will so enjoy this welcoming painting when we can once again meet down there for coffee.

Thank you to lay leader Peggy Beckwith for your message today.  Peggy used a story about Charlie Brown and Lucy to illustrate that not letting go of the past gets in the way of our relationship with God.  Charlie Brown was the manager of his baseball team, having loosing season after loosing season, at the hands of Lucy, who could never seem to catch a ball.  Lucy wanted this new season to be different.  When a fly ball went into the outfield, Lucy again missed the catch, and the player on the opposing team made a home run. The past got in her eyes.  Lucy needed to let go of past seasons.  The old has gone and the new has arrived!

What of our past do we hold onto, that gets in the way of our relationship with God?  Peggy told us that she used intentional prayer to get out of her past.  God is persistent.  Just like watching a circus, the trapeze artist has to let go of one bar before he grabs another.  Peggy looked at the scripture of Ephesians 2:10 to show that we are all God's workmanship.  Thank you Peggy for your thoughtful message.

Just another reminder that starting May 2nd we will have both Zoom and in-person Sunday church services at 9am, following health guidelines. Contact Babs Steinert if you wish to engage in the in-church worship on Sundays.

Happy spring!  The flowers are abloom!
Thanks again to Chris Wyant who spent so much time and effort to paint a reflective mural and message to beautify the church and welcome us.
