Bluff Point UMC article for 10/10/12

Our fifth Sunday/Music Sunday was dedicated to our dear friend and
music lover, Ed White. Before he passed away, he had been practicing
special music as part of a quartet with Pastor Judy White on the organ, Jean
Bascom on piano, and he and Gordon Bascom on trumpet.

On Music Sunday, this particular music was played for us by the trio
of Pastor Judy White, and Gordon & Jean Bascom, and the service was
dedicated to Ed.

It was easy to see Ed in that group of musicians. He was always “at
the ready” with his trumpet, and he would have loved this music.
Accompaniments were played by the organ and piano, and it was the
trumpets that played the melody to two old and favorite hymns, “I Love
You, Lord” and “Here I Am, Lord”. A third song, “Hand Me Down My
Silver Trumpet”, featured singing by Pastor Judy and the congregation.
Music is an important part of our Sunday worship, and the music on
this day was perfect! To include our dear friend and musician, Ed White,
made it even more perfect…
