Bluff Point UMC article for 11/7/12

Sunday, November 11th, is the first day of our 2012 Stewardship Faith
Program. “Commitment to Christ Sunday” will be December 2nd.

November 4th through November 17th has been designated for
Operation Shoebox collection. Laurie Prinzivalli has hand-outs for folks
who are filling a shoebox for a youngster - three different ages for boys and
three different ages for girls. Ideas include small toys, school supplies,
hygiene items, and a short note to the child for whom you are filling the box
of goodies, and maybe even a photo of yourself and your family.
In addition, you are being asked to donate $7 for each shoe box you
prepare. This money helps to cover shipping and other project costs. (FYI:
This is the first increase since this shoebox project began thirteen years

Our own Donna Johnston has put away her Turkey Walk shoes and is
putting on her Christmas for the Needy cap. Funds from this past Sunday’s
Turkey Walk are used to purchase meat (hams, turkeys, chickens) for the
Christmas for the Needy food baskets that will be distributed not once, not
twice, but three different times different at the Penn Yan Baptist Church in
the middle of December. She can update you and give you further details
regarding this wonderful, huge, and special community project. She can
be reached at (585)750-0862.

This church, as well as other area churches, and many individuals as
well, will be getting more and more involved as the next few weeks pass.
Stay tuned! We’ll keep you posted on all that’s going on and what is

Phil Pearce) The first item on the first page (the home page) lets you know
what to do and where to go to see progress and pictures, and it’s all very
easy. You will find that Phil has labeled and sequenced each photo as well.

Congratulations to Bill and Delores Sutherland on the birth of their
great-granddaughter, Audree Louise Housel, on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.
Audree’s mom and dad are Bryan Housel and Sharee Gere.

Please keep those who are serving our country in your thoughts and
prayers. I always end this church column with these words because I
believe it is vital that we do so.
This week, we will be taking those thoughts and prayers one step
further. At 11:00 AM, on the 11th day of this 11th month (November), please
stop, sit down, and give a thought to any and all veterans, throughout
the history of these United States, who have given their lives for the United
States of America. It is the very least we can give to them after all they have
given for us. We must never forget…
