Bluff Point UMC article for 12/26/12

Readers will enjoy checking out the parables that our dear friend and
former pastor Bruce Westerdahl has written and contributed to our website
at He has written three parables for December:
“Losing Christmas Traditions” (December 4th), “A King Is Born…in a
Stable!” (December 11th), and “Shepherds Were the First to Learn”
(December 17th).

Our choir is the best! Bluff Point UMC is a small country church, but
our choir is big! Members of the choir have come and gone over the years,
but this choir has been in existence at Bluff for over twenty years, says
Bruce Westerdahl. Choir meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the
church sanctuary. Our choir rehearsals have always been hard working
rehearsals, but we’ve also experienced great fun and wonderful fellowship.
It is a super group of dedicated individuals…
Ladies gather for lunch at the Antique Inn at every Tuesday at 12:00

Bible Study is on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM at the church and/or every
Thursday evening at 7:30 PM at Pastor Judy’s home. Anyone may come;
no previous knowledge of the Bible is required.

Participants at our final service for 2012, December 30th, are:
Liturgist - Ron Salyer; Greeters – Ed & Sally Head; Ushers – Michele
Covert and Sherri Hunt; Scripture Reader – Bruce Westedahl; Sunday
School – No Sunday School today; Counters – Sally Head and Laurie
Prinzivalli; Nursery – No Nursery today. The title of Pastor Judy’s sermon
for this morning is “After Glow”.

Our thanks to the congregation for our fellowship this morning.
We’re asking that everybody bring one dozen of your favorite homemade
Christmas cookies for our gathering today. Coffee and tea will be provided.
This fellowship, which was originally planned for last week, was
changed for a very special reason: Last Sunday, December 23rd, was the
63rd wedding anniversary for Don & Meredith Nielsen, and it was also the
60th wedding anniversary for Ron & Jane Salyer! Ron & Jane renewed their
wedding vows after our Children’s Christmas service had ended last week,
and then we celebrated these two very special events at our “wedding
anniversary fellowship” downstairs. Our love and congratulations and very
best wishes to Don and Meredith and Ron & Jane.

Happy Birthday wishes to Matt Covert (26), Blanche Fingar (27),
Chris Wyant (27), Bonnie Perry (27), Michele Covert (29), Laurie
Prinzivalli (1), and Kate Huggler (2).

Please keep those who are serving our country in your thoughts and
