Bluff Point UMC article for 3/20/13

Please remember Food for the Needy on Sunday, especially cereal,
cans of corn, and cans of peas.

Or, please bring individual granola/breakfast bars, individual cereals,
and family/individual-size Mac & Cheese for Milly’s Pantry Backpack

The Lenten Supper here at Bluff this evening, March 20th, is entitled
“Suffering With Jesus”. This will be the last Wednesday night Lenten
Supper. Our thanks to Michele Covert, Linda Folts, Ellie Stempien, Judy
White, Jane Salyer, Sylvia DeMay, and Barbara Bailey for the delicious
meals we have enjoyed the last couple of weeks.

FYI for Easter Week: On March 28th, Maundy Thursday, there will be
a Modified Sedar Meal and Drama, beginning at 5:00 PM. (**Pastor Judy
needs disciples for the drama that will be presented this evening, March
28th.**) On March 29, Good Friday, the church will be open from 3:00 to
6:00 PM for individual communion. There will be an Easter Sunday (March
31st) Lakeside Sunrise Service in front of Dana & Helen Schillinger’s home,
and Ruth & Jim Drumm’s home in Keuka Park. A continental breakfast will
follow. The time for this service has yet to be announced. Easter Sunday
worship at Bluff Point United Methodist Church will be held at 9:00 AM.
Coffee and donuts will be served downstairs after this service.

The Penn Yan Area Council of Churches will be hosting its last
Lenten lunch tomorrow, March 21st. Lunches begin at 12:00 noon, and they
will be held at the First Baptist Church The cost is $5.00 per person.
The theme for this year’s lunches has been “The Qualities of Christ”.
This year’s speakers have highlighted passages in Scripture which illustrate
some of Jesus’s more inspiring qualities as His death approached.
The speaker for this last luncheon is Rev. Sandi Perl. Her
presentation is titled “Jesus Stands Trial” and it is based on Luke 23:1-12.

The ladies of the UMW meet at the Antique Inn on Tuesdays at 12:00

Bible Study is on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM at the church and/or every
Thursday evening at 7:00 PM, also at the church. Anyone may come;
no previous knowledge of the Bible is required.

Choir will go back to its original practice sessions on Tuesday
evenings next week at 7:00 PM.

Participants at our service for March 24th, Palm Sunday, worship are:
Liturgist - Stacy Wyant; Greeters – Phil & Kathy Burdick; Ushers – Doug &
Terry Fingar; Scripture Reader – Ron Salyer; Sunday School – Pam
Althouse; Counters – Elly Stempien and Bill Sutherland; Nursery – Joyce
Wiedrich and Jessica Kenneda. The title of Pastor Judy’s sermon for this
morning is “A Flint-like Face”.
