07-17-13 Article

Caption:  As we celebrated our religious freedom on our Fourth of July
Sunday, we sang an especially reverent patriotic song, “God Bless America”
(and as a  tribute to all our Yankee fans??).  The accompaniment was grand:
(L-R) Jeff Stempien - trumpet; Jean Bascom - organ; Robin DeSantis -
flute; and Pastor Judy White - piano.  What a wonderful sound filled this
little country church…

BPUMC article for 7/17/13 By Kathy Burdick

We’ve celebrated Independence Day and we’ve held our Chicken
Barbeque, so I guess we can say that summer has officially begun!  Our 4th
of July service began on a high note when two of our veterans, Amos
Hammond and Bruce Westerdahl, presented the colors.  As the congregation
rises when the American flag and the church flag start down the aisle, one
can’t help but feel a little choked up by this display of patriotism.

July also means that all money must be in to Pastor Judy for the July
trip to Pennsylvania.  Our Yankee Baseball trip is August 15th, and Doug
Fingar is collecting the money for that.  Please make your check out to Bluff
Point UMC and earmark it Yankee Ballgame trip.

You will find more info on both trips on our website at

The UMW gathers at the Antique Inn at Noon on Tuesdays.

Our choir is taking a much-deserved summer break.  We thank the
choir members, Cindy Heggie, and Aimee Perry for giving us such
inspirational music every week.  Enjoy your break…
