Beginning of Lent

Laurie Prinzivalli read a poem that Blanche Fingar wrote during church today, that fit in perfectly with the message for today. Blanche has such a way with words, as well as crocheting many of the prayer shawls for our ongoing prayer shawl ministry.

Here we are into February and the beginning of Lent. When you read this we will have celebrated our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner.
Our Bible Study group is thoroughly enjoying Monday Bible Studies for grown-ups, with lively discussions of the meanings of the topics. Come join us Mondays at noon!
Are you thinking of joining the Bluff Point United Methodist Church? Our new member class is on Saturday, February 24 9 AM to noon.
Our scripture this week was Mark 1: 29-39, read by Marilyn James. In the scripture we see that Jesus left the synagogue and went with James and John, to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon‘s mother-in-law was very ill with a fever, and Jesus went and touched and healed her. That evening he continued to drive out demons and heal others that had been brought to him.
Pastor Jeannine shared that we need to bring the power of God with us. We need social interaction to feel close to God and need support and affirmation. We see our faith in action. She ended telling us that Jesus did not come into the world to be served, but to serve us. we also need to be a servant too others when anyone is hurt or needs support. We are so fortunate to have such a loving Lord.
Recently, we have been cleaning out the bookcases at church and he had several books available for people to take and read. Time for early spring cleaning!
Thanks to Marguerite Miller for delicious snacks after church. Fellowship is an important time after church for us together, and reflect on our love for one another.
