This past Sunday, All Saint’s Sunday, we remembered our saints who have gone before us to join the Lord. We had a PowerPoint presentation with pictures of the seven saints from this congregation who have passed this past year, including Mike Morehouse, Bill Sutherland. Charles Boose, Jane Salyer, Ron Salyer, Fremont Clow, and Sylvia DeMay. We love and miss you all.
Our scripture reading was Matthew 5: 1-12, the Beatitudes, read by Waneta Nielsen, a very well-known passage. We are told to share the love of Christ with others. We are loved because he loves us.
Pastor Jeannine asked if Jesus was speaking to the disciples only, in the Beatitudes, or to the crowds on the mountains? She recalled that Jesus was the first person who treated the woman at the well as a human being. She found the Messiah, or did the Messiah find her? Jesus treated all the misfit toys as worthwhile people. He shared his love in many ways. People were radically changed by Christ.
Pastor Jeannine shared from the story The Giving Tree, how an apple tree loved a boy, and supported him with what the tree could give throughout his life, even as the boy was then an old man and could sit on the stump of the tree which had earlier been cut down for lumber for his boat. Jesus loves us through all of our lives!
We will be supporting the Yates County Christmas by ringing the bell at Tops from 9-4pm on Wednesday 11/22. Consider signing up if you have not already. See Joyce Wiedrich.
On 11/19 we will dedicate our new portico to the memory of Keith Hardy.
We welcome all visitors! Come join us at 9:00am. on Sundays!
