Several of our congregation joined with folks from Dresden United Methodist Church this past week for a ride on the Erie canal. It was a beautiful evening, and we were able to see a lot of blue heron and wildlife on the trip, as well as enjoy lots of yummy food.

Thanks to Ron and Marguerite Miller for setting up our late summer trip on the Erie canal. Lots of fun for 26 of our congregation and many others from Dresden.
So the Last will be First and the First Last, so goes the parable from Matthew 20: 1-16. In this parable men were collected at different times in the day in the marketplace to work in a vineyard. They were all promised the same salary as those starting early in the heat of the day and working through the day. The early workers grumbled when they found they were paid the same as those coming for an hour or so at the end of the day.
Pastor Jeannine helped us understand a little bit more about this parable. God’s love is unconditional and a valuable possession. It is a free gift without any strings attached. No matter when we come to Jesus we get what we don’t deserve, which is love and forgiveness. No one should be left out. All who come are welcome to the kingdom of God.
On November 12 Pastor Jeannine has asked each of us to invite someone to church- whether it be a friend, neighbor, or relative. Let’s fill the pews!
We will do our road cleanup and 54-A on October 18 at 9:00 AM. Please come and join us. Many hands make the work go quickly and we usually finish within the hour on our part of the route. This is one of our missions that we attempt to do twice a year.
Remember, our second Sunday brunch. Please don’t bring a dessert though, as a cake is provided for celebrating birthdays of the month.
Our sincere condolences to the family of Bill Sutherland. Bill has been a long-term member of our church and a staunch participant on the trustee committee. Anything that needed to be done around the church involving construction, the building or church grounds you could find Bill helping out or finding a contractor or a specialist to do the job, if it was beyond the scope of church members. Bill joined Jesus, and his loving partner and soulmate Delores (Dee) in heaven, who have been waiting for him. We truly will miss Bill ‘s smile, energy, and willingness to help.
