This Sunday we dedicated the portico on the front entrance of our church to the memory of Keith Hardy, a true servant of God. The Hardy’s attended BPUMC summers while at their lake home. Clarice was here for the dedication with her daughter and son-in-law.

We were fortunate to have the Hardy family for the dedication of our church portico, from memorial funds from Keith Hardy, provided by Clarice Hardy and family. It is a beautiful addition to our church entrance.
Our scripture reading read by Waneta Nielsen was Matthew 25: 14-33, the Parable of the Talents. A man turned over his possessions to his slaves. The first man got 5 talents, and went to work and received 5 more. The second man got 2 talents and went to work and received 2 more. The third man received one talent and buried it. Jesus was not pleased with the actions of the third slave. He was requested to give the talent to the first slave as he had been foolish. This parable is talking about stewardship and responsibility. One talent in today’s economy is worth over $800,000.00
Pastor Jeannine spoke about taking risks. She asked if we had ever taken risks. She recalled riding her bike fast down steep hills as a child, for the thrill, with her hands off the handlebars. She got that Adrenalin rush. Life gives us opportunities and decisions matter, as in our parable in Matthew. They count more when we use our skills for our maker. What are we to do? Do we stay home in a safe environment or put myself out and take a risk? We need to take risks and let Jesus work within us. What ifs can hurt us in our walk with Christ.
Pastor Jeannine had us reflect on Eagles that build nests on the side of cliffs. When the eaglets are ready, the mother pushes them out of the nest, and they test their wings to fly and soar. We also have wings and the ability to fly. God knows what we can become. We sometimes need a nudge to use our talents.
Bible study continues, after seeing the movie, It’s a Wonderful Life. There are many opportunities in the movie to study and relate to scripture, plus the movie is said to have connections to nearby Seneca Falls, though filmed in California with snow in the film created from downy flakes laundry detergent.
The mitten, scarf and hat tree is up! Please help decorate it with warm winter gear. The smaller Angel tree has paper angels with named gifts needed for our chosen family. Please choose an Angel and bring your wrapped gift for the family by December 10th!
We hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving holiday!
